William Martin "Billy" Joel is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter from The Bronx, New York.  He released his first hit song in 1973, 'Piano Man', and has been a nationally beloved artist since, penning a total of 33 Top 40 hits in the US over the span of four decades.  His impressive and respected career has rewarded him with 6 Grammy Awards and 23 Nominations, and inductions into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Long Island Music Hall of Fame.  Other accolades include being awarded the Johnny Mercer Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors, the USA's highest award for American influence in the arts. Joel has largely stopped releasing new music since 1993's 'River of Dreams', with the exception of 'All My Life' and 'Christmas in Fallujah'.  In 2014, Joel went on the Billy Joel in Concert tour, playing songs from all eras of his solo career and covering many other famous acts.
