BREAD - MIDI FILES - BACKING TRACKS - MIDISALE.COM

Bread was an American soft rock band from Los Angeles, California most prominent during the 1970's.  The group originally consisted of David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, and Robb Royer. Most of the members besides Botts(who played percussion and joined in 1969) played several instruments and provided vocals interchangeably despite Gates being the lead vocalist.  Before Bread, Gates and Royer worked previously together in The Pleasure Fair, producing their 1967 album 'The Pleasure Fair'. Royer brought Gates together with Griffin, and in 1969 the three signed with Elektra Records under the name Bread. The group's first release would fail to chart, and their debut self-titled would scrape the surface of the Billboard 200 at 127.  Their second album effort, 'On The Waters', peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200 and produced their only number one on the Hot 100, 'Make It With You'. This charting would establish Bread as a major act on the list and set them up for future successes such as 'It Don't Matter To Me' and 1971's top 5 hit, 'If'.  The group experienced lineup changes and consistently toured throughout the early 1970's, celebrating their continued success with the album, 'Baby I'm-a Want You', which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200. That album and it's follow-up, 'Guitar Man' would produce a handful of Top 20 singles for the band.  In 1973, after exhausting touring and personal issues over writing credit on their albums, Bread disbanded.  The group would enjoy lucrative careers individually, and reunite in 1996 for a 25th Anniversary Tour of the US.
