English superstar Ellie Goulding has taken the world by storm. As a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, it did not take very long for her talents to get noticed in the music community. Ellie grew up in a small village close to Kington, Herefordshire. The second of four children to what became divorced parents. She began exercising her musical abilities as young as 9 when learning the clarinet, and more so when learning the guitar at 14. During her teenage, Goulding won several singing competitions with her own material, and eventually during her schooling at the University of Kent she was discovered by Turn First Artists.
Once showcasing her abilities to the music conglomerate's head, she was advised to leave university and set up shop in West London, where she would eventually fall into contact with producer Starsmith, who would come to be her chief associate in the production of her debut smash album, 'Lights'. With the release of 'Lights', and the subsequent re-release of the album as 'Bright Lights', featuring six new tracks, Goulding charted high on the UK Album Charts and Irish Album Charts, and in a short two years had sold over 1.6 million copies worldwide (June 2012). Originally, the idea for Ellie to cover Elton John's 'Your Song' had been ultimately decided against, but with its hesitant release became her second-highest charting single to date. During 2010 she toured in support of Passion Pit, John Mayer, and U2, and made appearances at a myriad of renowned festivals including the 'Glastonbury Festival' and 'iTunes Festival', respectively. Since her initial rocket into international success, she has worked with the likes of Skrillex, Katy Perry, and Calvin Harris, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and performed at the massively popular American music events 'Coachella' and 'Lollapalooza'. Her single 'Burn', which appeared on her 2012 release 'Halcyon', boosted her popularity in America from underground music phoenix to house-hold name status. Goulding's addictive sound can be heard on the soundtracks of major motion pictures like 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn- Part 2', and 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and the critically acclaimed 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. As of 2015, Goulding is set to release her next effort, 'Delirium' on November 6th, with her first single from it, 'On My Mind' already energizing the airwaves.
