Sir Elton Hercules John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, is an English singer-songwriter and composer born and raised in the Pinner area of London, England. He had learned to play piano at a young age and was involved with his first group Bluesology by 1962. He met his career-long songwriting partner Bernie Taupin in 1967 after answering a songwriting ad in the newspaper, and the two worked together for two years writing for other artists until John's album debut in 1969 with 'Empty Sky'. His second album effort, 1970s 'Elton John', would launch him to the top of the UK and US charts with its single 'Your Song'.  During his most prolific decades between the 1970s and 2000, John released nearly 30 albums and had at least one song in the US Hot 100 constantly. He has in total over fifty Top 40 hits, including seven number one US albums, twenty-seven Top 10s, and nine number one singles. He has been awarded five Grammies, five Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a Tony Award, a Disney Legends award, and the Kennedy Centers Honor award. John released his 32nd album, 'Wonderful Crazy Night' on February 5th, 2016, and its first single 'Looking Up' was released the same month. He is set to star in the 2017 film 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle'.
