Jennifer Lynn Lopez, better known as JLo, is an American singer, dancer, actor, designer, producer and author.
Lopez if from The Bronx, New York, and discovered her dream to become a 'famous movie star' after being cast in the low-budget production of 'My Little Girl'; this expression of interest was something her parents looked poorly upon, and after dropping out of Baruch College after one semester, she moved to Manhattan. After starring in a few musicals and on television productions, Lopez worked as a dancer professionally, supporting 'New Kids on the Block' and becoming a Fly Girl for the television program 'In Living Color'. Lopez spent the end of the 90's starring in films alongside stars such as Wesley Snipes and Jack Nicholson, and was the lead role in the biopic 'Selena'. That same year she became the first Latina to earn over 1 million with her role on 'Out of Sight', and 2 years later would make her musical debut with the album 'On the 6' featuring the breakout single 'If You Had My Love'.  In 2001 while simultaneously releasing her second album, 'J.Lo', and her film 'The Wedding Planner', Lopez became the first woman to have release a number one album and film in the same week.  Lopez continued to hit milestones in her career as a woman and Latina, her 2002 remix album becoming the first in history to debut at number one in the US, and her fifth album receiving the highest first sales week for a Spanish album in the US. Other than music and acting, Lopez has played roles in the business industry by producing clothing lines, fragrances, and opening a production company and charity foundation. She is considered the most influential Hispanic performer in the US, and is the highest paid Latina entertainer to date. Lopez has been married 3 times, and gave birth to twins in 2008.
