Johnny Cash - Midi Files - Backing Tracks - MIDISALE.COM
John R. Cash, better known professionally as Johnny Cash, was an American singer/songwriter, guitarist, actor, and author from Kingsland, Arkansas.
Cash is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, particularly in the country music genre, but he also mingled with rock and roll, gospel, and blues over the span of his more than 40 year career. After serving in the military in the early 1950's and getting married to his first wife, Cash moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he would sell appliances and play locally at night with the 'Tennessee Two' before garnering the courage to make a trip to the famed Sun Studios.
Cash initially didn't impress Sun Records owner Sam Phillips until the second time he met with him, showcasing a sellable rockabilly sound over the over saturated amount of gospel of the time.
Cash would go on to release several tracks over the next few years through Sun, most notably recording his signature tracks, 'I Walk The Line' and 'Folsom Prison Blues', both of which hit within the top 5 on country charts. In 1958 Cash departed from Sun Records due to contract stipulations and signed to Columbia Records, under which he would release another prolific single, 'Don't Take Your Guns To Town'. Through the mid to late 1950's Johnny would meet his second wife, June Carter, through touring with the famed 'Carter Family'. He would also release his hit 'Ring of Fire' during a time period where his drug dependence and outlaw demeanor would harbor a darker image of the star. 'The Man In Black' as he was known, would endure a plethora of health issues at different points for the rest of his life due to his high-octane and seemingly perpetual career. Eventually, after being diagnosed with several debilitating diseases, Cash passed away on September 23, 2003 at age 71. (Song Bios Copyright © 2016 J♯)
